Tennessee Senator Sends Letters to IRS, FBI Demanding Records Related to Jeffrey Epstein

Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) sent a letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on Monday in an effort for documents related to the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein to be released publicly.

In the letter to FBI Director Kash Patel and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Blackburn requested the complete flight logs from Epstein’s private jet and helicopter; any records that were in Ghislaine Maxwell’s possession that contain the names of individuals associated with herself or Epstein, including but not limited to Maxwell’s “little black book”; all video surveillance footage from Epstein’s Palm Beach residence; and any other documents, records, or memoranda related to Epstein and Maxwell

During Patel’s confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee last month, Blackburn questioned Patel if he would work to approve her subpoena to Epstein’s estate to provide the flight logs for his private plane.

Patel said he will “absolutely” work with Blackburn on the issue, adding at the time, “Child sex trafficking have no place in the United States of America and I will do everything…to make sure the American public knows the full weight of what happened in the past and how we are going to counterman missing children and exploited children going forward.”

Blackburn pointed to Patel’s answer to her question during his confirmation hearing in Monday’s letter, saying, “[Y]ou committed to working with me in illuminating the full extent and scope of Jeffrey Epstein’s international sex trafficking ring.”

“Your predecessor, Director Wray, was unwilling to provide this crucially important transparency…[Y]ou have committed to bringing transparency back to the FBI and rooting out the two-tiered system of justice that has operated there for far too long. Therefore, I respectfully request that you transmit to me and release to the American public the…records that are in the Bureau’s possession,” Blackburn said.

“The American people deserve to know exactly who was affiliated with this network,” Blackburn added.

The Tennessee senator also sent a letter to IRS Acting Commissioner Douglas O’Donnell on Monday requesting the release of any and all information in the agency’s possession that will reveal Epstein and Maxwell’s associates and business dealings.

Arguing that the information is “long overdue,” Blackburn wrote in the letter to O’Donnell, “The survivors of Mr. Epstein’s horrific crimes want transparency and accountability, and they—and the American people—deserve nothing less.”
