Republican Presidential Candidate Nikki Haley Back in Iowa Next Week

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Republican Presidential candidate Nikki Haley is heading back to Iowa next week to host two town hall meetings and participate in a foreign policy event with U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA).

The former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador under President Donald Trump announced a schedule that includes a town hall-style event at 6 pm. Wednesday, March 8, at the Thunderbowl in Council Bluffs. Haley has scheduled another town hall at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at LongView Farms in Nevada, IA.

On Friday, March 10, Haley is scheduled to take part in a foreign policy discussion with Ernst. The event, sponsored by the Bastion Institute, begins at 10 a.m. at the Horizon Events Center in suburban Des Moines. The Bastion Institute strives to bring together some of the brightest minds across the country to discuss the path toward strengthening America’s leadership and standing on the international stage,  according to the think tank’s website.

Bastion Institute board members include Barry Jackson, a Republican strategist who previously served as chief of staff to former House Speaker John Boehner (R-MI) and worked for President George W. Bush, and Morgan Ortagus, an active U.S. Navy Reserve Officer and a business executive who served the Trump administration as State Department spokeswoman.

Next week will mark Haley’s second trip to Iowa since announcing her candidacy last month.

Former President Donald Trump this week said he plans to hold a campaign rally in Iowa mid-month. Details of that trip were pending as of publication. Jeff Kaufmann, chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa, told The Iowa Star on Thursday morning the party did not yet have information on Trump’s pending stop.
