Republican Governors Association Slams Vice President Harris Visit to Ohio

The Republican Governors Association (RGA) on Friday slammed Vice President Kamala Harris and her visit to Ohio to highlight the administration’s “infrastructure” bill.

During her visit, Harris will take a tour of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 189, a Columbus union for individuals in the plumbing and mechanical piping industry.

The Ohio visit from Harris follows multiple media reports that have detailed high tension between the vice president and members of Biden’s administration.

In the statement, the RGA pointed to the lack of action from Harris, during the ongoing border crisis, after President Joe Biden placed her in charge.

“It’s been eight months since Joe Biden tapped Kamala Harris to handle the southern border crisis that is seeing record numbers of immigrants flow across the border and it’s overwhelming federal resources,” said RGA spokesperson Chris Gustafson in an emailed statement.

The group pointed to the action of GOP governors, like Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, in attempting to stop the surge of migrants and illegal drugs over the border.

“Thankfully, Republican governors like Mike DeWine are stepping up, assessing the problems at the border firsthand and releasing a 10-point policy plan to address the crisis. While Biden and Harris are asleep at the wheel, GOP governors are leading the way,” Gustafson continued.

Previously, DeWine sent 185 National Guard troops to the U.S. southern border to assist border patrol agents in a non-law enforcement capacity during their time there. Furthermore, DeWine dispatched Ohio State Troopers to the region, fulfilling the request of Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

An additional group of Republican governors presented a 10-point plan for Biden to strengthen the border, following the president ignoring a meeting request from the group.
