Arizona U.S. Senate candidate Blake Masters is starting to break free from the crowded field and establish himself as the frontrunner, according to an independent poll from The Trafalgar Group.
The businessman secured roughly 29 percent of the support of respondents. Meanwhile, his closest competition, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, took in almost 24 percent of the vote.
Jim Lamon, who has largely self-funded his entire campaign, only picked up approximately 17 percent. Justin Olson and Michael McGuire failed to secure double-digit numbers.
Notably, a large number of voters, 21.8 percent, are still undecided on who to support in the contest. However, candidates have until August to make their pitch to residents of the state in order to secure the GOP nomination.
Previous polling from a pro-Masters super PAC showed the venture capitalist increasing his support and running closely with Lamon.
Included in Masters’ pitch to Republicans is an endorsement from former President Donald Trump – who publicly backed Masters earlier this month.
“Blake is Strong on Border Security, in particular, the disastrous Southern Border where people are pouring into the U.S. by the millions, and destroying our Country,” Trump’s commentary continued. “Just two years ago, with the help of the Wall, we had the Strongest Border in the history of our Country, and now we have the weakest — Blake will turn that around quickly.”
“Additionally, he will Cut Taxes and Regulations, be Tough on Crime, and Support our Military and our Vets. Blake will fight for our totally under-siege Second Amendment, and WIN!”
In addition to Trump’s support, the frontrunner has the backing of the Club for Growth, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), former National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, and Congressman Jim Banks (R-IN-03).
The winner of the Republican primary contest will take on Mark Kelly (D-AZ), the incumbent senator.
