Most Americans back stronger social media oversight, according to a new survey.
In the Reuters/Ipsos poll, 61 percent of respondents said that additional government oversight is needed for social media companies, 27 percent were against additional government oversight, and 17 percent did not respond or were unsure.
More than half of all Republicans, Democrats and independents in the poll were for additional oversight — at 62 percent, 71 percent and 52 percent, respectively.
