For over a decade, I have been privileged to work for MassResistance, the international pro-family group that makes the difference. We take a firm stance against the promotion and proliferation of homosexuality and transgenderism, pointing out the lies of the LGBT agenda and the harm it perpetrates against communities and societies.
Our biggest political foe is (obviously) the anti-family, pro-LGBT left. From the grifters who turn their sexual degeneracy into civil rights to the groomers who abuse because they can’t “help themselves,” the cultural Marxist forces of sexual degeneracy fight to the bitter end to normalize homosexuality, transgenderism, and other perversions. They are coming for our children, as the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus bluntly admitted. They have frequently attacked us, defaming our efforts in the press and going after anyone who challenges their ethos of sexual license.
However, another frustrating opponent in the fight against the LGBT agenda is lurking within the conservative movement: the pro-family political establishment. This larger movement raises substantial amounts of money, hosts lavish dinners, organizes high-profile conferences, and appears in prominent photo shoots with politicians. It seeks positive press, avoiding scandal or defamation from hate groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center.
But these people don’t accomplish very much. In fact, they hinder confrontational yet effective pro-family groups like MassResistance because of their capitulation to LGBT falsehoods.
They cozy up to allies who reject transgenderism but think homosexuality is acceptable. They join forces with political interests hostile to the larger goals they claim to advocate for, like “Gays Against Groomers,” which supports same-sex “marriage” and government funding for LGBT centers, all while claiming to protect children.
The pro-family establishment wrongly believes that finding common ground, respecting the hardships that so-called “LGBT adults” faced in their childhood, and celebrating how they have achieved the same “rights” as everyone else, make for the best approach for protecting kids and our communities. They acquiesce to the grosser lies of the LGBT agenda, hoping they can achieve some kind of result. They should be fighting for the best outcomes: a complete clean-up and overhaul of content and course curricula in public education and a full rejection of the LGBT agenda and all of its lies.
Here are three major tenets of the pro-family establishment and why they are wrong:
1. LGBT is okay, but don’t allow it around the kids (especially elementary school age).
Many of the pro-family establishment groups fall for the false notion that homosexuality is an identity. This kind of thinking is false at its core. No one is born gay, just as no one is born in the wrong body. Homosexuality is a destructive behavior, and transgenderism is a mental illness.
Everyone should agree that children aged kindergarten through fifth grade should not be exposed to LGBT content. But what about middle school and high school? Shouldn’t all children be protected from such harmful indoctrination?
2. There are only two genders (but don’t talk about anything else).
Obviously, there are only two sexes. Often, however, the pro-family establishment resorts to the phrase “there are only two genders.” “Gender” is a linguistic concept, and some languages have more than two genders—i.e., Slavic languages (Polish, Czech, and Slovak), Germanic languages (German and Dutch), and Bantu languages (Ganda/Luganda and the Niger-Congo family), for example.
There are only two sexes. Let’s use the proper terms.
More importantly, these groups won’t recognize the fact that no one can change his sex. They leave out that essential part of the discussion because they don’t want to offend the “LGBT adults” in their coalitions. They don’t come forward and speak the whole truth because they don’t want to lose their support from LGBT groups that present themselves as defenders of children.
This problem leads us to the third point of departure for the pro-family establishment:
3. Go out of one’s way to respect LGBT people in general, including opposition to bullying and homophobia/transphobia.
For the last forty years, school districts have faced increased pressure from LGBT activist organizations to provide programs of support for so-called LGBT youth to prevent bullying. Who would be against that, right?
However, all of this propaganda is intended to normalize the lie that children discover they are “born gay” or “born in the wrong body.” These anti-bullying crusades then force non-discrimination statutes and ordinances into schools so that anyone who speaks out against homosexuality or transgenderism gets shamed, shunned, and then silenced.
The pro-family establishment compromises with this movement, and as a result, it gives way on key tenets of the LGBT agenda instead of taking a firm stance against the entire spectrum of sexual perversions. This approach will never succeed, since it’s based on false premises and cedes more ground to the left.
In sharp contrast, MassResistance has confronted this destructive agenda and the vapid capitulation of the pro-family establishment for decades. Check out our documentary What Gay Marriage Did to Massachusetts, in which we demonstrated how normalizing homosexuality through same-sex “marriage” wrought all kinds of negative consequences for the Commonwealth—including transgenderism. The slippery slope is real, not a fallacy, and the Pro-Family Establishment is only hastening its total domination in the public schools and the public square.
Half-measures that compromise with the LGBT agenda to accomplish some good in the schools will avail us nothing. If there is nothing wrong with homosexuality, what is wrong with teaching it to kids? When these groups (along with LGBT groups they cooperate with) insist that sexual orientation shouldn’t be taught in elementary schools, that talking point rings hollow.
The truth is that homosexual conduct is inherently harmful. The widespread disease, dysfunction, and death that result from sexual contact between two men or two women are well documented, to such an extent that MassResistance compiled an entire book, The Health Hazards of Homosexuality, outlining the higher incidence of physical as well as mental health problems widespread among homosexual populations.
Furthermore, we have transgenderism today because of homosexuality. In our documentary, we point out that the 2003 Goodridge opinion, which forced same-sex “marriage” on Massachusetts, forced government entities to change the marriage licenses from “Husband and Wife” to “Partner A and Partner B.” The sex differences were phased out as unimportant or nonessential, which is the fundamental basis of transgenderism.
With this compromised approach, the pro-family establishment has gotten comfortable with losing gracefully, giving up ground so that it can win small, short-lived victories, brag about its wins to the conservative press, raise more money, and host dinners with politicians to continue the cycle of losing, just more slowly than if they had done nothing at all.
It’s time for all pro-family activists to oppose this incremental surrender of the pro-family establishment. If we want to protect kids, restore the family, and stop the LGBT agenda, everyone must commit to a complete overhaul of the public school system, which includes no compromises with sexual degeneracy and destruction and a complete commitment to telling the truth about homosexuality and transgenderism while engaging parents to do the same, with greater success.
This approach is the only path to sustainable victory. For all parents who want to win, and win for good against the LGBT agenda, we encourage them to join MassResistance’s efforts.
