A Tennessee-based nuclear-related company will invest almost $12 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Chattanooga.
Master Machine, based in the city, received funding from Tennessee’s Nuclear Energy Fund, a $50 million initiative aimed at expanding the state’s nuclear energy ecosystem.
Master Machine is the fourth company to receive an investment from this fund, according to a government press release.
With this investment, the company anticipates creating an additional 44 jobs. This money will also be used to upgrade machinery and equipment.
Master Machine helps nuclear-related industries with engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication.
Warren Bradon, the president of Master Machine, said the company is “thrilled” to continue growing in Chattanooga.
“We’re thankful for the support of Governor Lee and Commissioner McWhorter and are looking forward to our continued investment in the Tennessee Technology Corridor,” he stated.
With this announcement, Governor Bill Lee said the state is “securing America’s energy dominance by creating an ecosystem for clean, safe and reliable energy solutions.”
“Through strategic investments in the state’s innovative Nuclear Energy Fund and leveraging Chattanooga’s prime location with access to water, rail and interstate infrastructure, the Volunteer State is well-positioned to lead,” the governor added.
Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly explained this announcement builds on the “city’s reputation in advanced manufacturing and helps grow [its] competitive regional economy.”
Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp stated the county is “grateful” for Tennessee’s investment in the county.
“Master Machine’s expansion shows that our efforts to strengthen our workforce are working, bringing the kind of advanced manufacturing that adds real value to our local economy,” he stated.
Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter noted it is the first time a company outside of Oak Ridge has received an investment.
“As Tennessee continues to rise as a national leader in nuclear innovation and advanced manufacturing, this project underscores the expanding potential of our state’s nuclear industry,” he added.
