House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan Endorses TN-7 Candidate Matt Van Epps

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) endorsed combat veteran and former Lee administration official Matt Van Epps’ campaign for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District on Wednesday.

“Lt. Colonel Matt Van Epps is a husband and father, a West Point graduate… a decorated combat veteran and helicopter pilot… and THE TRUE TRUMP CONSERVATIVE we need to fill our friend Mark Green’s seat in Congress,” Jordan said in a statement amplified by Van Epps’ campaign.

Van Epps said he was “honored” to receive Jordan’s support.

“I am honored to have Congressman Jim Jordan’s endorsement. I look forward to standing alongside him and President Trump in Washington to deliver for Tennessee’s 7th District,” the Tennessee Republican candidate added.

In addition to Jordan’s endorsement, his political action committee, American Liberty Foundation, began airing a new television ad in support of Van Epps, framing him as a “conservative MAGA warrior” who is not a “career politician.”

“Tough. Tested. Ready. Conservative MAGA warrior Matt Van Epps. West Point Graduate. Lieutenant Colonel in the Tennessee Army National Guard. Matt Van Epps is no career politician. He’s a combat helicopter pilot and now he’s on a new mission: Secure the border, enact the Trump agenda, and crush the woke left,” the American Liberty Foundation ad says.

Van Epps’ campaign also began airing a television ad this week titled, “Take Cover” in which the combat veteran recounted his time in the military and said he is “on a new mission to help Trump save America.”

“I flew nine combat tours taking out terrorists…When my Chinook took enemy fire, I kept her in the air, got our guys, and completed the mission…Now, I’m on a new mission to help Trump save America…I know what to do with terrorists. So these woke wannabes in Washington better take cover,” Van Epps says in the ad.

Van Epps, who has been endorsed by retired TN-07 congressman Mark Green, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point as a commissioned officer and served nine combat deployments, including eight deployments as a Night Stalker helicopter pilot with Clarksville’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment – the same special operations unit Green served in.

He continues to serve in the Tennessee Army National Guard after 10 years of Active Duty service.

Van Epps went on to hold multiple roles in the administration of Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, including deputy chief operating officer in the Governor’s Office, assistant director of procurement and contracts with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, assistant commissioner with the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services, and most recently as Department of General Services commissioner.

Early voting for the October 7 special primary election will run from September 17 through October 2.

The final day for voters in the 7th District to request an absentee ballot for the special primary election is September 27.

    Matt Van Epps would make a fine Secretary of Defense, but when electing a new congressman I prefer someone with the most conservative legislative voting record in the race. That’s why I support Jody Barrett (TLRC – 100%) for Congress.
