Public records from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office indicate that two of the three individuals arrested for allegedly stealing more than $18,000 in beauty supplies are now being held at the request of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The arrests of Yilianne Casero, Yoandys Diaz, and Sariel Maqueria were first reported on Monday by WVLT, which reported the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) arrested the trio after they were spotted inside an Ultra Beauty location in Oak Ridge and allegedly left without paying for merchandise.
According to 10 News, KSCO deputies pulled over their vehicle for a traffic stop, and after a K-9 unit alerted law enforcement to the possible presence of narcotics, a search of the vehicle revealed $4,898 in merchandise stolen from the nearby Ultra Beauty location.
Law enforcement recovered additional stolen merchandise from other locations in East Tennessee, as well as from a Sephora store, totaling $18,443, the outlet reported.
Casero had three outstanding warrants at the time of her arrest, 10 News reported, while Diaz and Maqueria were previously wanted for alleged crimes in Florida.
The Inmate Population portal maintained by KCSO shows that Casero (pictured above, left) and Diaz (pictured above, right) are both being held for transfer to ICE, whose website states that officers may “lodge immigration detainers against potentially dangerous aliens who have been arrested by another law enforcement agency or are removable from the United States.”
Over 2025, the total number of Tennessee law enforcement agencies with 287(g) partnerships with ICE increased from just eight to 53, allowing local police to perform certain federal immigration enforcement tasks or provide citizenship information about arrested individuals to federal authorities.
An annual report, containing data from 73 of Tennessee’s 95 counties and published for the first time last year, revealed that nearly 3,000 illegal aliens were convicted or arrested in Tennessee during the final three months of 2024. A joint operation between ICE and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) saw nearly 200 people detained in Nashville last May.
