Live from Music Row Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the creator of the Huey Report and marketing expert, Craig Huey, in-studio to discuss Californian’s willingness to be controlled and the donation history of Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw that stayed the Tennessee ban on mask mandates ruling.
Leahy: We’re broadcasting live from our studios on Music Row. And here, to go through the morning with us Craig Huey, my good friend, the direct marketing expert who had the great wisdom after having lived his entire life in California, moved here to Tennessee. Now, how long is it? About a year and three months ago.
Huey: About a year and a half we’ve been here, no regrets. And, Michael, I have to go back to California every once in a while. I was there maybe a week ago.
Leahy: So here’s the thing. When you’re in California, we always want to find this out. What is the mindset problem with folks in California who seem to accept this subjugation by the state.
What’s the attitude there? You always bring us a report on what’s going on in California. Your last trip. Tell us about your last trip and tell us the attitude there.
Huey: Yes. So anyone who’s listening, if they go to California or some of these other blue states where there’s this lockdown mentality, there’s this paranoia. But basically, there is a feeling of oppression when you get there.
And a feeling of fear when you get there. Something totally different than you feel in Tennessee. In fact, in California, it just broke my heart, hearing the people believing the California medical authorities, the politicians.
The media is so biased there. There’s this fear of dying and anybody who isn’t wearing a mask, anybody who’s not vaccinated are an enemy of the people.
You’ve got high school kids running in the heat, beautiful California Sunshine outdoors, running with masks on, hardly able to breathe.
Leahy: Is this just something you saw on your last trip?
Huey: My very last trip.
Leahy: So set the stage for that again. This is nuts.
Huey: Yes.
Leahy: This is, like, totally insane.
Huey: Well, let me tell you, I felt so discriminated against in Los Angeles County. Los Angeles County is bordered by Orange County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County. In those three counties, I felt a sense of the least non-discrimination because I could go into a restaurant.
In Los Angeles County my wife and I could not even go into a restaurant because why? They’re sitting there demanding you show proof of vaccination and that the masking requirement, my wife and I would have to basically have that mask sitting at the table until the food came.
It’s just a sense of paranoia and fear. And The Tennessee Star had a great article about how these masks are inefficient, not effective.
Leahy: We did this, like a month ago. 20 pages of an actual study. Apparently, of course, we talked about if you watched Tucker Carlson last night, Doctor Scott Atlas was there. I know you saw that.
Huey: I saw it.
Leahy: He said look, I was part of this team that Dr. Fauci was on and Dr. Birx was on and Redfield, the former head of CDC, they had a pact before that if any of them got fired, they’d all resign.
Huey: Yes.
Leahy: I wish the president had fired them all.
Huey: He should have.
Leahy: He should have.
Huey: Because Americans would be much better off.
Leahy: They’ve been giving misinformation out for some time. It’s ideology, not science. Dr. Scott Atlas said they talk about these various elements in the task force. He would present all the latest studies. They would have no science. They would have ideology.
Huey: Right. See, it’s rhetoric. They’re saying they’re following the data in science, but they’re not. And they’re imposing a bureaucratic mentality of control upon the people. And that’s what you find in California. Control.
Leahy: That’s not happening in Tennessee. There are two elements to it. First, although we are occasionally critical of Governor Lee, right. Well, more than occasionally, to be honest, we’re often critical of Governor Lee. We sometimes praise him. But compared to Gavin Newsom…
Huey: Oh, night and day.
Leahy: Because we have a high standard here. But compared to Gavin Newsom, Governor Lee is doing very well.
Huey: Let me tell you an example of that. I was so proud of that Governor signing that Omnibus Bill in the face of the opposition of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and business groups. He stood up to them.
These business groups caved in and did not want to have the employees be able to have freedom of choice. And they wanted to be compliant with OSHA and the Biden administration. And he opposed the business groups here in Tennessee.
Leahy: He signed that the Omnibus bill and we’ve had state Senator, state Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson in here and explained it. They spent a lot of time putting that Omnibus bill together.
It was signed by the governor on Friday afternoon. In particular, one element of it. We talked about this in the 5:00 am hour. One element of this, Craig, had to do with the standard by which a school board could impose masks.
And it was scientifically based on how many cases do you have? What’s the risk of threat? Very reasonable. Very well thought out. The judge as we talked about in our lead story at The Tennessee Star, Waverley Crenshaw.
I know it’ll be shocking to you. He’s a Vanderbilt University graduate. He’s a Vanderbilt Law School graduate. We read the entire injunction, the two-page injunction that he signed Sunday afternoon 48 hours after the bill was signed into law.
No mention there in his injunction of how the lawsuit filed on Saturday morning was, A, likely to win and B no mention of how the new law actually violated the claim on the plaintiff and of how it violated the Americans with Disabilities Act.
I’m telling you, when this case goes to full court hearing and when it finally goes to an appeals court because I think Waverley Crenshaw is a political hack. Judge Crenshaw, you can come in any time and defend yourself. But I think you’re a political hack.
Huey: Well, here’s the thing, Michael. Judicial activists legislate from the bench. A strict constructionist interprets the Constitution and the law.
Leahy: Exactly.
Huey: He is a judicial activist. He was appointed by Obama. He has donated to Democratic candidates to the Democratic Party of Tennessee 54 times.
Leahy: Who is this you’re talking about now?
Huey: I’m talking about Judge Crenshaw.
Leahy: Really?
Huey: 54 times.
Leahy: Where did you get this?
Huey: I have research. You may have remembered that I have judgevoterguide.com.
Leahy: Well, let’s see. So this is U.S. District Judge Waverley Crenshaw. According to your research, this is interesting. He has contributed to Phil Bredesen four times.
He’s contributed to John Ford, John Edwards, Tim Kaine, the Democratic Party of Tennessee contributed to them seven times. Barack Obama, three times. Al Franken, twice.
Huey: He contributed to Obama, who actually appointed him to that position. And he’s using that as a political tool to transform Tennessee.
Leahy: These contributions., your team did some research on this. We’re going to go by this. This is actually quite interesting. After the show, if you would, Craig, we’ll get the details and verify all of that with links, et cetera.
Huey: Right.
Leahy: But it just confirms my argument. The guy, Judge Crenshaw, you, sir, are a political hack.
Huey: You made the point, Michael. And I hope every listener understands the speed of trying to stop Governor Lee’s Bill of protecting the children, protecting the workers. The speed of doing that was not an accident. It was planned in advance by political activists, judges and lawyers, and political activists.
Leahy: Lawyers connected by the way, to Mark Elias, the guy who was involved tangentially in the Russian dossier way back when.
Huey: Wow.
Leahy: Back in 2016.
Huey: It is politically corrupt.
Leahy: The fix was in it looks like to me. And when I look at this and I look at the judge’s order, I don’t see how you could come to any other conclusion because that injunction to me, I’m not an attorney is very different.
Because typically, when you do an injunction like that, you say this case is very likely to win. It didn’t say that. It didn’t cite the actual violations of the ADA in that bill which they specifically corrected.
