Eagle Forum Brings National Conservative Conference to Nashville for Eagle Council 54

Eagle Forum President Kris Ullman announced the organization’s 54th annual Eagle Council will be held in Nashville next month.

Ullman discussed the upcoming conference during an interview Friday on The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, highlighting the organization’s history and the lineup of speakers and topics planned for Eagle Council 54.

“Eagle Forum is the national organization founded by Phyllis Schlafly back in 1972,” Ullman said. “And of course, she is known as the mother of the pro-family movement and she had an incredible gift of public speaking, of organizing, and organizing concerned citizens to speak out for conservative pro-family values.”

Ullman (pictured above) served as executive director of Eagle Forum’s D.C. office in the 1990s and said her relationship with Schlafly began after her mother met the longtime conservative activist.

“My mom met Phyllis before I did and said to Phyllis, ‘Hey, I have a daughter who just graduated from law school, is looking for a job in DC,’ and Phyllis said send her over to my office,” Ullman recalled.

“That started what was a very long relationship between me and Eagle Forum,” she said, adding that she eventually ran the D.C. office and that “Phyllis came to my wedding and we remained friends all the way until she passed away.”

Ullman said Schlafly’s influence continues to shape Eagle Forum’s annual conference, which is designed not only to discuss political and cultural issues but also to train attendees to become active citizens.

“The beauty of Phyllis and the beauty of Eagle Forum and our national meeting that we have every year is that Phyllis believed that every issue was a pro-family issue,” Ullman said.

“Whether it was national defense, whether it was pro-life, whether it was the marriage issue, whether it was taxes and things like that,” she added. “So at our annual meeting, we cover a lot of different topics and we learn what to do about them, not just, all the doom and gloom of what the problems are, but actually train people to take the information back to their states and make a real difference.”

Ullman said Nashville was selected as the location for Eagle Council 54 after the organization decided to move beyond its traditional conference locations.

“Our Eagle Council 54, this is our 54th year, Phyllis started this conference 54 years ago, is going to be in Nashville, Tennessee, the city in which 60 percent of America can drive to in one day,” Ullman said.

“And it is, of course, one of the hottest conservative cities,” she added. “And for 53 years we alternated between St. Louis and Washington, DC, and last year we had a fantastic event in Washington, DC, where Speaker of the House Mike Johnson spoke and a number of other members of Congress.”

The conference will take place at the Sheraton Music City Hotel near Nashville International Airport. A meet-and-greet is planned for Thursday, September 24, followed by full programming on Friday and Saturday.

Ullman said the conference will feature author Eric Metaxas, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti, election integrity advocate Cleta Mitchell, The Federalist writer Joy Pullmann, physician Dr. Omar Hamada, journalist Tyler O’Neill, Gordon Chang, Daniel Di Martino, Dr. Mark Christian, and others.

“We’ve got the great Eric Metaxas coming, talking about his new book, Revolution,” Ullman said. “We’re gonna tackle so many important topics that you cover on your show, things like Sharia law, data centers, and AI, and how should we as conservatives view these important issues.”

“We’re gonna be, of course, talking about pro-life,” she added. “We’re gonna have Jonathan Skrmetti, the Attorney General of Tennessee, talking about his great victory at the Supreme Court when it comes to protecting children.”

Ullman said the conference is intended to focus not only on identifying issues but on giving attendees practical tools to address them.

“I guarantee anyone who comes will leave energized, educated, and ready to really be a better, more informed citizen,” she said.

Among the featured speakers will be Mitchell, whom Ullman described as “a great friend to Eagle Forum.” Mitchell is expected to discuss election integrity and protecting elections.

“Election integrity is so important because we can’t save America if we don’t know how to counteract some of the nonsense that’s going on in our elections,” Ullman said. “And boy, Cleta has the answers.”

The conference will also emphasize younger Americans and student participation. Ullman said students aged around 14 to 21 will be able to attend adult sessions, while Eagle Forum will offer programming specifically designed for younger attendees.

“We invite all students to attend,” Ullman said. “We’re gonna have some special events just for the kids.”

Ullman also highlighted the role of Tennessee Eagle Forum leader Bobbie Patray, who will welcome the national organization to the state.

“I have known her since 1994, and of course, she was very close to Phyllis,” Ullman said. “And Phyllis recruited her to lead Tennessee Eagle Forum, and Bobbie does a fantastic job.”

Eagle Council 54 will also include a Friday afternoon visit to Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage as part of the organization’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

“We’re also visiting the Hermitage on Friday afternoon because, you know what? It’s America 250,” Ullman said. “And we don’t normally take field trips, but this time we’re gonna have a special briefing about the Hermitage and Andrew Jackson, and then we’re gonna all head over to his home for a tour.”

Ullman encouraged listeners to attend the Nashville conference, saying Eagle Forum still has space available.

“We have people from across the country coming, but we still have some seats available, so I want to invite all your listeners to join us for this phenomenal two-day event,” she said.
