Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson (R-Franklin), and former Davidson County Republican Party Chairman Lonnie Spivak endorsed State Representative Lee Reeves’ (R-Franklin) campaign for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District on Monday.
Johnson, who resides in and represents part of the 7th District in the State Senate, cited his work with Reeves in the Tennessee General Assembly during the most recent legislative session in endorsing his congressional campaign.
“Having worked closely with Lee to pass significant legislation that upholds our conservative values, fights illegal immigration, and protects the right to vote for the Military and First Responders, I know firsthand his dedication to the people of Tennessee. Lee’s commitment to faith, family, lower taxes, secure borders, and protecting our constitutional rights makes him the right choice to represent our values in Washington,” Johnson said in a statement.

“As a proven conservative leader, Lee Reeves will be a strong ally for President Trump, fighting alongside him to advance our shared vision for a stronger, freer, and more prosperous America. I urge the voters of our district to join me in supporting Lee Reeves for Congress,” he added.
In the General Assembly, Reeves and Johnson collaborated on a number of bills, including Senate Bill 113, Senate Bill 1089, Senate Bill 799, and House Bill 749 – all of which went on to become law.
Reeves said he was “honored” to have Johnson’s support in the primary race.
“Jack has been a constant warrior for conservative values, fighting against illegal immigration and the Woke Left’s agenda in our state. His trust in my commitment to faith, family, and our America First values drives me to fight even harder for the people of Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District,” Reeves said in a statement.
“Together, we’ll secure our borders, protect our constitutional rights, and advance President Trump’s vision for a stronger, freer America,” he added.
Jacobs, who has served as mayor since 2018, cited Reeves work passing House Bill 749 in the General Assembly – which makes it a Class B misdemeanor offense of operating a motor vehicle in Tennessee with an invalid driver license and designates out-of-state driver licenses issued exclusively to illegal aliens as invalid driver licenses – and his commitment to work in Congress to lead bills ending birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens and penalizing sanctuary jurisdictions.

“President Trump is calling the plays and I know that Lee Reeves will be a great and loyal America First teammate. As a state representative, Lee Reeves passed a law that took driver’s licenses away from illegal aliens. In Congress, he will stand with [Trump] in the fight to end illegal immigration permanently by ending the Illegal Alien Birthright Citizenship Loophole and Defunding Sanctuary Cities,” Jacobs said in a statement.
“Lee Reeves will also be a champion of fiscal conservatism, fighting to end wasteful spending, eliminating budget deficits, and working to pay down the national debt. I urge the citizens of the 7th Congressional District to vote for him on October 7th,” the mayor added.

Spivak, in announcing his endorsement of Reeves Monday evening, also pointed to Reeves’ work in the General Assembly on immigration-related issues and his support of the Education Freedom Scholarship Act, which he said “reflects [Reeves’] dedication to empowering parents and ensuring educational opportunities for our children.”
“Having devoted years to advancing the conservative principles that define our party and our state, I recognize in Lee Reeves a leader of exceptional character, unwavering conviction, and dedication to the values that matter most to Tennesseans,” Spivak said.
Reeves called Spivak’s support a “great honor,” adding, “Lonnie Spivak is one of the most respected and longest serving conservative grassroots Republican activists in all of Tennessee. His dedication is unmatched. Thank you for your trust, Lonnie!”
Early voting for the October 7 special primary election will run from September 17 through October 2.
The final day for voters in the 7th District to request an absentee ballot for the special primary election is September 27.
