TN-7 Democrat Candidates Taking Aim at GOP Opponent Gino Bulso

State Representative Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood), who officially announced his candidacy in the Republican primary for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District on Monday, has become a top target for attacks by Democratic candidates in the race.

Bulso, who announced his candidacy for the first time during Monday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, said State Representatives Aftyn Behn (D-Nashville) and Bo Mitchell (D-Nashville), who are both running for the Democratic nomination in the race for the 7th District, have taken steps to target him specifically out of the eight Republican candidates running for the seat.

Behn’s campaign targeted Bulso this week by securing the website domain “GinoBulso.com,” which redirects users to the campaign site of the Democrat when typed into a web browser.

Bulso’s official campaign website is “VoteGino.com.”

“This was no mistake. It was a calculated move by the Left to disrupt my campaign before it even began. They know I’m the conservative who can win, and they’re trying to shut me down before I get started,” Bulso said in a statement.

Further, Mitchell’s campaign also moved to target Bulso immediately after he launched his campaign this week by sending a fundraising email out to his supporters which called the Republican a “dangerous,” “self-funding right-wing extremist.”

“I am definitely dangerous to the Democrats’ liberal agenda. They misrepresent my record because they cannot run on their own. While they spread fear and division, I will continue fighting for Tennessee values,” Bulso said in response to Mitchell’s email to supporters.

Bulso said he believes these attacks signal that he is perceived among Democrats as the strongest Republican contender in the race for the 7th District, to which he said, “I will not back down.”

“The Left is clearly panicking. They have launched website tricks, email blasts, and fearmongering—because they know I have the record and the resolve to beat them,” Bulso said.

“I have delivered results in the statehouse, and I am ready to take that same fight to Washington. Let the attacks come. I’m not running to please politicians—I’m running to serve the people,” he added.

The Republican and Democratic primary in the special election to fill the seat for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District will take place on Tuesday, October 7.
