Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) was presented with the Champion of Value in Health Care Award by the National Association of ACOs (NAACOS).
NAACOS recently honored 12 members of Congress at its fall advocacy summit with its Champion of Value in Health Care Award for their support of two key bills: the Preserving Patient Access to Accountable Care Act and the Health Care Efficiency Through Flexibility Act.
The two bills, NAACOS said, seek to “help advance the transition to value-based care in the United States, and reduce clinician burden.”
Blackburn was among six U.S. senators and four congressmen who were honored with the Champion of Value in Health Care Award for sponsoring the Preserving Patient Access to Accountable Care Act, which would “extend the incentive payments for qualifying participants in advanced alternative payment models through payment year 2027 and maintain reasonable qualifying thresholds for providers in advanced alternative payment models.”
NAACOS said if passed into law, the Preserving Patient Access to Accountable Care Act would “help encourage more clinicians to participate and stay in value-based care payment models.”
Champion of Value in Health Care Awards were also presented to four additional congressmen who sponsored the Health Care Efficiency Through Flexibility Act, which would “reduce burdensome and costly quality requirements by requiring the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to pilot-test reporting approaches and delay mandatory electronic clinical quality measure reporting until 2030.”
Aisha Pittman, senior vice president of government affairs at NAACOS, added, “More than ever, we need the strong bipartisan leadership of these champions in Congress to support policies that help seniors get the care they need while keeping health care spending in check.”
“With a shared goal of providing seniors the best care possible, we look forward to continuing our work with Congress to ensure a faster and smoother transition towards innovative value-based care,” Pittman added.
NAACOS, which works to provide “better care at lower costs,” advocates for congressional support of value-based care, a model that rewards healthcare providers for delivering high-quality, coordinated care rather than the volume of services.
