Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche Says He’s Open to Serving in Job Permanently

BREAKING NEWS

CBS News   Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said Tuesday that he’d be willing to serve as the attorney general permanently if asked by President Trump, after Pam Bondi was ousted from the post last week. Speaking at a press conference to announce the creation of a new National Fraud Enforcement Division, Blanche introduced himself as the acting attorney general, even though Bondi’s portrait is still hanging on the walls throughout the building, and said he still planned to travel with her Wednesday to a previously scheduled event. “I did not ask for this job,” he told the press. “I love working for President Trump. It’s the greatest honor of a lifetime, and if President Trump chooses to keep me as acting, that’s an honor. If he chooses to nominate me, that’s an honor. If he chooses to nominate somebody else and I go back to being the [Deputy Attorney General], that’s an honor. If he chooses to nominate somebody else and asks me to go do something else, I will say, ‘thank you very much, I love you, sir.’” READ THE FULL STORY

NY Fed Chief John Williams Claims Powell Can Remain Chair After Term Expires

BREAKING NEWS

Breitbart   John Williams, the head of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, on Tuesday said he supported Fed chairman Jerome Powell’s plan to remain in charge of the central bank until a successor is confirmed. Powell’s term as chair of the Fed’s board of governors ends on May 15. President Trump has nominated former Fed official Kevin Warsh to succeed him but his confirmation may be delayed because a key U.S. Senator, Republican Thom Tillis of North Caroline, has said he will not vote to approve the confirmation until the Justice Department drops its investigation of Powell and the Fed. Democrats have also indicated they will not vote for Warsh while the investigation continues. Last month, Powell claimed, without evidence, that he can continue to lead the Fed until a new chair is formally in place. He also said he will not leave the Fed board until the investigation into his handling of renovations of the Fed’s headquarters is “well and truly over, with transparency and finality.” Powell’s board seat technically does not expire until January of 2028 but, with one exception, outgoing chairs have always stepped down from the board as well. Federal Filings Confirm Prosecutors Learned of Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s Brush with THP from Tennessee Star Reporting

Kilmar Abrego Garcia

The criminal defense attorneys representing Kilmar Abrego Garcia on Monday acknowledged in a filing that federal investigators began building a case against their client after The Tennessee Star reported last April that he was stopped by Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) in November 2022, when the “Biden-era FBI” instructed troopers to release him.

Following the February 26 evidentiary hearing called by U.S. District Court Judge Waverly Crenshaw, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, when prosecutors were called to explain why their case against Abrego Garcia is not vindictive, Abrego Garcia’s attorneys noted in their filing that Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert McGuire testified that first learned of the 2022 traffic stop after a colleague read an article from The Star.

For years, China relied on exploiting U.S. sanctions to import steeply discounted oil from pariah states like Iran and Venezuela to fuel its economy and military buildup. Now, President Donald Trump’s interventions against both Caracas and Tehran have upended this lucrative arrangement.

China is suddenly confronted with a very different strategic calculus ahead of a key meeting with the American president in Beijing tentatively scheduled for next month. “I think it’s really China that all of this is centered on a grand strategic calculus,” Brent Sadler of the Heritage Foundation’s Allison Center for National Security told the Just the News, No Noise TV show, referring to the Iran war and intervention in Venezuela.

Commentary: NATO, Iran, and the Interests of Nations

Trump speaking

The longer the war with Iran drags on, the clearer it becomes that America’s allies have little interest in doing things that allies traditionally do. Some European leaders have merely said they will not participate in the war, that they have no interest in fighting Donald Trump’s battles. Others have taken concrete steps to hinder American efforts—notably, by denying American troops access to bases in their countries or denying them permission to fly over their airspace. Others still—namely, France’s Emmanuel Macron and Spain’s Pedro Sánchez—appear to have determined that their nation’s welfare no longer aligns with that of the United States, which is a legitimate position but hardly one that would define an “ally.”

The clearer it becomes that America’s longstanding erstwhile allies are unhappy with current arrangements, the more agitated President Trump’s domestic opponents—on the Left and the Right—grow. They are certain that Trump’s Middle East conflict is the straw that will break the back of the camel that is the post-World War II global order. He is an abomination, they insist, a simplistic fool who knows nothing about the history and grandeur of NATO, the importance of the trans-Atlantic partnership, or the bonds that tie “the West” together and make its preservation the central purpose of American foreign policy. He will destroy everything and leave the world and the nation worse off because of it.
