Video Reportedly Shows Illegal Immigrant Driver Strike Pedestrian in Nashville, then Leave Scene: Rep. Andy Ogles

Zach Carach

Video posted the social media platform X by U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) on Tuesday reportedly shows the moment 21-year-old Zach Carach was struck by an illegal immigrant while celebrating his birthday in Nashville.

While celebrating his 21st birthday, Zach Carach was allegedly struck by a vehicle driven by Tony Lopez — who then fled the scene,” wrote Ogles. “Lopez is an illegal alien with six outstanding warrants. He was last seen in Mt. Juliet — in my district. The license plate in the photo is reportedly linked to the vehicle that picked up Lopez after he abandoned a damaged rental car.”

The video appears to show Carach walk toward a crosswalk, then waiting for passing traffic and checking both ways before attempting to cross the street. As he entered the middle of the street, Carach was struck by a vehicle, sending Carach flying into the air.

Ogles reported that Lopez, the alleged driver, illegally entered the United States in 2023, when he noted former President Joe Biden was in office.

The congressman said that Carach remains hospitalized while Lopez remains unaccounted for, and that members of the public should report any sightings of the alleged criminal.

Ogles also condemned Mayor Freddie O’Connell for his recent actions in response to the federal immigration enforcement operation that saw nearly 200 arrests in Nashville.

“Zach remains hospitalized, yet Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell appears more focused on obstructing federal immigration enforcement than protecting the people of this city,” wrote Ogles. “Over the past two weeks, his administration has been accused of leaking DHS agent identities, directing questionable ‘charity’ funds to illegal aliens, and publicly attacking law enforcement officials.”

He added, “Why won’t he confront the surge of illegal aliens contributing to chaos in Middle Tennessee?

Metro Nashville was accused of leaking the names of federal immigration officials through an online portal. He also directed millions in federal dollars to nonprofits that recently seeded the “Belonging Fund,” which O’Connell announced as a joint effort by Metro and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee in response to the recent immigration enforcement operation.

Ogles recently announced the start of a congressional probe into O’Connell over his actions, with the House Judiciary and Homeland Security committees requesting internal documents and communications. Though maintaining he engaged in no wrongdoing, O’Connell has indicated he will respond to the inquiries.
