The Salvation Army wants its white donors to give it more than just money this Christmas season. Its leadership is also demanding they apologize for being racist.
It’s part of a push by the Christian charitable organization to embrace the ideas of Black Lives Matter, an activist group working to, among other things, “dismantle white privilege” and “disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure.”
The Salvation Army’s Alexandria-based leadership has created an “International Social Justice Commission” which has developed and released a “resource” to educate its white donors, volunteers and employees called Let’s Talk about Racism. It asserts Christianity is institutionally racist, calling for white Christians to repent and offer “a sincere apology” to blacks for being “antagonistic.. to black people or the culture, values and interests of the black community.”
“Many have come to believe that we live in a post-racial society, but racism is very real for our brothers and sisters who are refused jobs and housing, denied basic rights and brutalized and oppressed simply because of the color of their skin,” one lesson explains. “There is an urgent need for Christians to evaluate racist attitudes and practices in light of our faith, and to live faithfully in today’s world.”
In an accompanying Study Guide on Racism, Salvation Army authors explain that all whites are racist, even if they don’t realize it.
“The subtle nature of racism is such that people who are not consciously racist easily function with the privileges, empowerment and benefits of the dominant ethnicity, thus unintentionally perpetuating injustice,” it says.
“Sunday school curriculum that only uses white photography and imagery” is an example given that perpetuates injustice.
“We must stop denying the existence of individual and systemic/ institutional racism. They exist, and are still at work to keep White Americans in power,” the lesson says.

Let’s Talk about Racism pushes arguments identical to those of leading “Critical Race Theory” purveyors Robin DiAngelo and Henry Rogers (a.k.a. Ibram Kendi), whose work is recommended by Salvation Army authors.
DiAngelo and Rogers (Kendi) claim that any observable difference in relative behavior or accomplishment between racial groups is due to the inherent racism of whites, arguing against the traditional American concept of equal opportunity in favor of the Marxist-inspired goal of equality of outcome.
“Structural racism.. is the overarching system of racial bias across institutions and society. These systems give privileges to White people resulting in disadvantages to (blacks),” reads a Salvation Army lesson.
Proponents of “Critical Race Theory” don’t believe whites, Asians or Hispanics can avoid being prejudiced against blacks. They want them to demonstrate what they call “anti-racism” in favor of blacks, helping to establish lower standards for them than they do members of other racial groups, or making cash “reparation” payments to blacks as compensation for alleged previous racism.
“Stop trying to be ‘colorblind’. While this might sound helpful, it actually ignores the God-given differences we all possess, as well as the beautiful cultures of our Black and Brown brothers and sisters,” Let’s Talk about Racism explains. “Instead of trying to be colorblind, try seeing the beauty in our differences, and welcome them into your homes churches and workplaces. Being colorblind also ignores the discrimination our Black and Brown brothers and sisters face and does not allow us to address racism properly.”
Founded in 1865 in London, England, the Salvation Army is both a protestant Christian church and an international charitable organization. Its first “red kettle” was set up in Oakland, California in 1891.
National advisory board members include Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones, Chick-Fil-A Foundation President Rodney Bullard and charter school pioneer J.C. Huizenga.

The Salvation Army NEVER SAID THAT! Some keyboard troll posted that garbage and it’s now gone viral. You can easily look up their policies on their website. We should all do our @due-diligence before believing every moronic statement coming across our screen! My first thought was the same as yours, but after researching their policies I assure you the SA would NEVER say anything like that.

If they never said it, then why did they retract it? This is a matter of public record. They claim that people were misinterpreting it. This is, VERBATIM, what was in the guidebook: ” “The desire is that Salvationists achieve the following: Lament, repent and apologize for biases or racist ideologies held and actions committed.” Now you claim this never happened. i have read other more racist aims.i readvthatnsalvation army has change where the donations $ is spent.it has been newky restructured this year and wiil give to black only programs.oreviously they helped the poor and needy regardless of color.reasons for this they said to many poor white people were ending up receiving help and they cant afford to tracj the many paper trails and color of which they are.so solve the problen they are selectingbpack only programs.they were questioned about why they use white people almost predomidantly to ring the bells ,even in black areas.they said their own studies found that they have higher donations if a white person rings the bell.the reporter then asked if those oeople have been made aware of the new changes in their structure and giving ti blacks only,but still using white volunteers..i never did any meaningful fact [email protected] bit have read similar news storys from different recourcez
I thought this was a sick joke or made up lie. I have supported “SALLY” through the years in many way and considered becoming an officer, but I just didnt have the time. The assumptions of white = racism is upsurd and I am not “white” in the eyes of real racists or those apparently who made this guide, but my children 25% hispanic have blues eyes and the one is blond. Their respect for other races is irrelevant as they know we are all equals and are judged how you behave and carry yourself. They should nor apologize to anyone for how they are born. I like asking all black people to apologize for all the crimes that black people commit against white people, sounds stupid when you put it that way.
Looks like the Salvation Army just shot themselves in the foot with their demand. Personally I don’t feel that anyone should apologize for something they had no part of referring to what took place in the Civil War.

Ignorance and hypocrisy in this message. Sad to see a christian based organization allow attacks on the ideal and principles of christianity. The teaching brought forth through the word teach everyone to love thy neighbor as if it was there selves in the new testament. I find it completely ignorant and bias these demands brought forth from this organization. Racism wouldn’t exist if they didn’t publish this agenda throughout mainstream media along with the political ties to this subject. This organization has lost any respect i had for it. At the end of the day we are the human race, Anyone that suffers and states it due to color of there skin is playing a victim and not willing to break the chains out on you by claiming such is a valid argument. By doing so people are not allowing themselves to evolve and grow. A black individual may be stereotyped when in a prominently white neighborhood but the same is for a white individual when a prominently black neighborhood. There is no such thing as white or black privilege, They are creating a narrative to have people fight amongst themselves instead of standing on gods principles. We are product of our own creation and god opens and closes doors, If this is a christian organization that was true to god word they wouldn’t be asking for a politically charge response from its donors. People give to your organization to help whoever is in need not because of the color of there skin, The spirit of christ and spirit that lives in everyone doesn’t reflect the color of a humans skin it reflects there morales and beliefs. We are all the same in spirit and these freshly bodies are just that a materialization of atoms and particles that houses the holy spirit. I agree with you Dave and all the other commentors. Whomever in the Salvation Army came up with this idea should be a fired as being racist, of seeing things only in racial terms. The SA is to assist all irrespective of color. Soon the wind in the sails of BLM, CRT and the cancel culture will fade. Actually it is fading as I write. Soon the normal will return. I join others in a vow to not give a penny to the SA. Further I will ask the “bell-ringers” if they are aware of this development. I suspect a number of volunteers will quit on the spot.
Took the day off today because I am so passed off at salvation army, wanted to spend the day contacting people about this.
The problem is, we don’t stand together. If we stand together against this kind of divisive and racist crap, we will win.
I was assured by an executive I spoke to at a giant supermarket chain that he would investigate this, and the red kettle communist bastards will no longer be allowed on their property begging for money after insulting customers.
THIS IS HOW YOU GET THINGS DONE! And, if I walk past a red kettle, bell ringing asswipe this year, instead of dropping 20 dollar bill in, I will spit in the red kettle, make a scene, get a lot of publicity, and in all probability ho to jail for a few hours, with a SMILE on my face.
I am deeply saddened by what the SA is doing here. I have always praised them and told others to donate their garage sale items and other things to them but I wont anymore and I will be sharing this post!
