With Governor Bill Lee ineligible to seek a third term in 2026, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs said this week that Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is the only potential candidate whose candidacy would ensure he would not enter the race before later endorsing the senator should she decide to launch a campaign for governor.
During his Sunday appearance on “Tennessee This Week,” Jacobs said he was flattered to be included among potential gubernatorial candidates before stating that Blackburn is the only hypothetical candidate whose decision would stop him from entering the race.
“Senator Blackburn. That would be the person, if she decides to run, that would take me out of the mix,” said Jacobs, the former WWE wrestler who rallied with President-elect Donald Trump during the Republican primaries last year.
Jacobs then told host Don Hudson, “It is greatly flattering to me to think that I am in the mix of those names that you just said,” referencing State Senate President Jack Johnson (R-Franklin), who apparently told Hudson he would not run for governor if Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) expressed interest in the position.
The same day the clip of Jacobs’ comments about Blackburn running for governor was posted by WATE 6 to Facebook, the mayor wrote about the senator in a post to the social media platform X.
Jacobs wrote, “Senator Blackburn has done an outstanding job as a state senator, U.S. congresswoman, and U.S. Senator. She would do an equally outstanding job as Governor and would have my full support if that’s what she decides.”
On Tuesday, Axios reported that Blackburn is considering running for governor.
Blackburn’s campaign for governor would come on the heels of her successful reelection to the U.S. Senate last November, when she bested her Democratic opponent, State Representative Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville), by nearly 30 percent of the vote. She was sworn into her second term in the Senate earlier this month.
The senator has more recently expressed support for Trump’s cabinet nominations, including the president-elect’s nominee to direct the FBI, Kash Patel, who blamed the federal law enforcement agency for the reluctance to release the manifesto left by Covenant School killer Audrey Elizabeth Hale.

Last year Marsha said that she wanted to be our State’s U. S. Senator for the next six years. Now, having been re-elected to the U. S. Senate in November 2024, Marsha is saying, well, maybe, she really would like to run for Governor in the 2026 Tennessee Republican Primary after all, and if she wins that race, then she would like to be elected to that office in the November 2026 General Election for Governor.
So, apparently, this is ANOTHER important ‘decision’ that Marsha has made that she did not really mean.
Remember in January 2021 when Marsha said that she would support the investigation of the irregularities of the November 2024 presidential election that gave us corrupt, crooked, grifting, lying Old Joe Biden as our president. In the Congressional proceedings of January 6, 2021 and thereafter, Marsha did not utter so much as a ‘peep’ and she did not do a single, solitary thing. Marsha was just a timid little bunny rabbit in the whole process.
Marsha was elected to the Tennessee Senate in 1998 and held that office from (1999 to 2003). Marsha was elected to the U. S. House of Representatives in 2002 and held that office from 2003 to 2019. Marsha was elected to the U. S. Senate in 2018 and has held that office since 2019. And as I said above, Marsha was re-elected to another six-year term last November, but now Marsha is interested in being Tennessee’s Governor.
Is Marsha Blackburn really the best and only person qualified to hold our State’s highest political offices? When Marsha makes a ‘decision’ does she REALLY mean what she says? Looks to me like Marsha is just another pol who cannot be depended upon all that much.
I hope we have more Republicans in Tennessee who are willing to challenge Marsha Blackburn should see throw her hat in the ring for Governor.
I became disenchanted with her when she voted to certify the 2020 illegitimate election of Joe Biden on J6, 2021.
Tennesseans voted for Trump, but she betrayed us when any moron could see the tremendous amount of cheating, illegal changing of voting laws, election interference by Mark Zuckerberg & all the censoring of the Hunter Biden laptop.
I’ve never seen her once speak to the horrific abuses of the Civil Rights of Americans who legally protested on J6, 2021 at the Capitol.
I’ve never heard her mention that unarmed Ashli Babbitt was murdered in cold blood, shot in the neck, by a rogue Capitol Police Officer Michael Byrd. Ashli was an Iraq veteran, doing 4 tours.in the War on Terror. MICHAEL BYRDS criminal shootingbof Ashli was NEVER investigated. As a matter of fact, he was promoted. Where is the Senate investigation?
Most of the 1200 J6 Political Hostages were War Veterans & Former Law Enforcement. Most were arrested by a FBI full Swat raid on their homes terrifying their children. Most only charged with trespassing, yet they are given outrageous sentences. Held in Solitary confinement for months at a time; not given adequate Healthcare or clean food etc etc.
The violence for the most part came from FBI Confidential Human Sources (most likely Antifa& BLM) who were violent in the Summer of Love. The cops who for no apparent reason railed on the protesters with chemocal gases & rubber bullets. They are on video changing into.Trump Gear at the event. Everyone saw Ray Epps. He got probation.
Sorry, I don’t trust Senator Blackburn to run my State.
She makes a great case for abolishing the 17th Amendment, which changed the method of SELECTING US SENATORS. When the Founders created the US SENATE, two persons from each State were appointed by the State Legislatures.
The 17th Amendment changed tgat process so that now they are elected by popular vote. Their terms are 6 years, so keeping them accountable us difficult for voters who.dont keep a close eye on how they vote. And the Corrupt Media covers for them.
