Representative Mark Green (R-TN-07) introduced a bill last week that attempts to safeguard Americans from fraudulent vaccine trial data.
The Vaccines in Trial and Liability (VITAL) Act states that any company that misrepresents its trial data will have all its liability waivers revoked.
Furthermore, if the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) determines that a company used false statements or concealed trial data, it can revoke liability protection from the company if it had received that protection under an emergency use authorization.
The VITAL Act also exposes companies to fines and potential criminal proceedings by the federal government.
Green said he introduced this bill again after it was discovered that the CDC concealed and downplayed the COVID-19 vaccine’s risk of myocarditis, which causes heart inflammation.
“The Biden CDC actively deceived the American people—simultaneously pushing a vaccine mandate it knew put young men in danger and ruining those same young men’s military careers. I’m re-introducing the VITAL Act to bring accountability and oversight to the vaccine approval process,” he said.
“As a physician, I understand that when trust is abused to deceive patients, the entire system breaks down,” the representative explained. “We cannot allow institutions, public or private, to take advantage of the sacred trust between doctors and patients.”
In 2024, Green introduced the VITAL Act, but it didn’t make it to the House floor.
Last month, the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations released a report on the Biden administration downplaying the COVID-19 vaccine’s side effect of myocarditis.
According to the report, during the Biden administration, HHS officials withheld “crucial health information” from the subcommittee and ignored over 70 oversight letters.
“Rather than provide the public and health care providers with immediate and transparent
information regarding the risk of myocarditis following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination, the
Biden administration waited until late June 2021 to announce changes to the labels for the
Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines based on the ‘suggested increased risks’ of myocarditis and pericarditis,” the report said.
It also adds that the Biden administration’s decision to withhold a formal warning about the COVID-19 vaccine’s myocarditis side effect jeopardized “ the health of young Americans.”
Last week, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed the recommendation of the COVID-19 vaccine for healthy young people and pregnant women.
