U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced a bill on Wednesday to make releasing the names of federal law enforcement officers with the intent to obstruct a criminal investigation or immigration enforcement operations a federal crime.
The bill, called the Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act, would create a new specific federal doxxing offense under Section 1510 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code, targeting disclosures of law enforcement officers’ identities only when done with the intent to obstruct.
The bill would expand the scope of obstruction laws already in place to also include immigration operations, not just general criminal investigations.
“It shall be unlawful to make the name of a Federal law enforcement officer publicly available with the intent to obstruct a criminal investigation or immigration enforcement operation,” the bill reads.
Doxxing a federal law enforcement agent should be a crime. At a time when violence against these men and women is higher than ever, we cannot let radical, left-wing politicians get away with releasing this information for criminal gangs to see.

Individuals in violation of the measure, if it were to become law, would be fined, imprisoned for up to five years, or both.
Blackburn’s introduction of the Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act follows the Metro Nashville government’s Office of New Americans publishing the names of federal law enforcement officials and their interactions with local law enforcement and emergency services, as mandated by an executive order approved by Mayor Freddie O’Connell.
Last month, O’Connell amended his Executive Order 30 to mandate that Metro Nashville employees report contacts with federal immigration officials to him and the Office of New Americans.
The amended executive order came in response to an immigration enforcement operation carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in conjunction with Tennessee Highway Patrol officers in Nashville, which resulted in 196 arrests of illegal aliens.
Blackburn said her Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act will “hold blue city mayors accountable for obstructing enforcement of our immigration laws by putting law enforcement officers in harm’s way.”
“Blue city mayors are doing everything they can to obstruct the Trump administration’s efforts to deport criminal illegal aliens,” Blackburn added.
In addition to introducing the Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act, Blackburn has also formally requested that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and the U.S. Department of Justice investigate O’Connell and his office for allegedly obstructing immigration enforcement operations in Nashville.

Sad day in America when “We The People” have to have a law protecting our LEOs from people like the Hakeem Jeffries.
Doxxing of ANYONE should be a federal crime. Period.
Pointless. Any House or Senate member can say absolutely anything they like on the floor and be completely immune to prosecution for doing so.
