U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and State Representative Lee Reeves (R-Franklin), who is running for the Republican nomination in the race for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, were featured during a live segment filmed in Nashville during Thursday’s edition of Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.”

Filmed Thursday morning at Edley’s Bar-B-Que in Nashville, Blackburn told Fox host Steve Doocy how the recently-passed One Big Beautiful Bill Act works to cut taxes for Tennesseans with regard to individuals who work overtime, collect tips, and receive Social Security.

“People are excited about what President Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress is doing to make America great again…[With] the Big Beautiful Bill, there’s no tax on tips, overtime, and, my provision, removing tax from social security for our nation’s seniors. The largest tax cut in history, made [the Trump tax cuts] permanent. We took care of small businesses like Edley’s because we want to see Edley’s continue to grow,” Blackburn said.

As noted by a recent analysis by the Tax Foundation, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act is anticipated to reduce federal taxes on average for individual taxpayers in Tennessee by $3,785 in 2026.

Blackburn, who is running for Tennessee governor, added in an X post, “There’s no doubt about it – Tennessee is Trump Country!”

Doocy earlier asked Reeves about Tennessee’s economy, to which he replied, “We are booming right now.”

“This is Trump country. We’ve got no state income tax and Trump is solving our illegal immigration crisis,” Reeves added in his remarks, which were amplified by the Official White House Rapid Response X account.

Tennessee’s lack of a state income tax has helped the state consistently rank among those with the strongest economies. Most recently, the Volunteer State placed fourth in the nation for economic momentum.

Blackburn, in her bid for governor, has been praised for her efforts in the early 2000s as a Tennessee State Senator when she successfully led the charge against then-Governor Don Sundquist’s proposed state income tax.
