Tennessee U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN-02) is one of eight Republicans who will serve on the U.S. House Oversight Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency.
“I was just informed by Chairlady [Marjorie Taylor Greene] that I will be on the DOGE Committee. I appreciate the Chairlady very much,” Burchett wrote in a post published to X on Tuesday morning.
The creation of the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency was announced in November by House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-KY-01).
The purpose of the subcommittee is to oversee the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and work to implement the Department’s recommendations on how to root out and reduce wasteful government spending.
On Monday evening, President Donald Trump signed an executive order officially creating DOGE in one of his first moves hours after taking the oath of office.
The creation of DOGE, the executive order states, is intended to “implement the President’s DOGE Agenda, by modernizing Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity.”
Last week, Comer officially appointed U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA-14) to chair the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency.
In addition to Tennessee’s Burchett, Greene announced that U.S. Representatives Pat Fallon (R-TX-04), William Timmons (R-SC-04), Brandon Gill (R-TX-26), Brian Jack (R-GA-03), Eric Burlison (R-MO-07), and Michael Cloud (R-TX-27) would be the Republican members to serve on the subcommittee.
“These members bring a wealth of experience and dedication to ensuring a more efficient, effective, and accountable federal government,” Greene said in a statement.
“Together, we will strive to eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement within federal agencies, ensuring that the government operates efficiently and transparently for the American people,” Greene added.
