State Representative Gino Bulso’s (R-Brentwood) congressional campaign hailed the Americans for Prosperity (AFP) Foundation poll released Tuesday—which shows Bulso in a statistical tie among the top Republican candidates running for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District—as a “major milestone” in the race.
The AFP poll shows the Republican primary for the 7th District to be a statistical tie among the top four candidates—Bulso, State Reps. Lee Reeves (R-Franklin) and Jody Barrett (R-Dickson), and former Lee administration official Matt Van Epps—with 57 percent of voters still undecided.
The poll found the four candidates separated by just 1 percentage point, with all falling within the survey’s 4.4 percent margin of error.
With Tuesday’s poll results, Bulso, Reeves, and Barrett have all automatically qualified for the race’s likely only major debate set to be hosted by AFP next month in Nashville, while other candidates must raise or self-fund at least $250,000 by August 29 to participate.
Bulso’s campaign said Tuesday’s poll results “reflect strong grassroots support and confirm that Gino is the candidate America First conservatives believe will stand with President Donald J. Trump in Washington.”
“From day one, this campaign has been about giving voters in the 7th District a proven conservative they can trust to defend President Trump’s agenda and fight for Tennessee values. I am deeply grateful to every supporter who has joined our cause, and this poll shows our momentum is real,” Bulso said in a statement.
“Our campaign has only just begun, but Tennesseans are already sending a message: they want an America First conservative who will deliver results. We are ready to take that message to the debate stage and beyond,” Bulso added.
Regarding next month’s debate hosted by AFP and moderated by AFP’s Michael Lotfi and SuperTalk’s Matt Murphy, Bulso’s campaign said the event will “provide voters a clear look at why Gino is best prepared to fight for families, faith, and freedom in Congress.”
