U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, Who ‘Rarely Endorses,’ Explains His Total Support of Marsha Blackburn for Governor

Burchett and Blackburn

U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN-02) said U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) earned his official endorsement in her bid for Tennessee governor due to her decades-long career of fighting for conservative principles on behalf of the people of the Volunteer State.

Burchett announced his endorsement of Blackburn on Monday via video remarks in which he praised the senator for her work serving Tennessee at both the state and federal level, specifically highlighting her work leading the charge against the proposed state income tax by then-Governor Don Sundquist in the early 2000s.

On Monday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, Burchett further detailed Blackburn’s fight to defeat the proposed state income tax while she served alongside him in the Tennessee General Assembly as a state senator.

“I rarely endorse, but I think it’s important…that I endorsed Marsha Blackburn. She has a proven track record. I knew her before she was even in the state legislature…and you can’t talk about Marsha Blackburn in her history of the state without talking about the state income tax. If it wasn’t for Marsha Blackburn, we would have a state income tax, ” Burchett said.

“People were upset. They were trying to pass something that they knew was wrong. Marsha stood in the gap and she fought it, and that’s why we don’t have it,” he added.

Burchett went on to call Blackburn “principled” and “out front,” pointing to her extensive understanding of Tennessee’s political landscape and connection to the State Legislature.

“She’s principled, she’s out front. Everybody knows where she is. Tennessee is a conservative state. She understands that and she understands the people of this state. I think she will just do a dynamic job and I couldn’t be more happy to support somebody for governor,” Burchett said.

“The state of Tennessee will be well served with Marsha Blackburn. She understands the players in Nashville, she is very connected to the legislature. She understands there’s 95 counties and it’s not all just Davidson, Knox, Shelby, and Hamilton. She understands it’s a bigger state than that,” he added.

Burchett further emphasized how there would be no “learning curve” with Blackburn at the helm of Tennessee, given her years of serving the state in multiple roles.

He also noted the senator’s close relationship with President Donald Trump, which he said will benefit the state if it were to need federal assistance.

“There is no learning curve with her. She gets it. She’s worked in state government, she has been in the state legislature, she’s been a congresswoman and United States senator. Also, she’s got Trump’s ear and that’s not going to hurt us one bit when we need something,” Burchett said.

  1. ASK WHY VOTE FOR JOE BIDEN ON JAN SIXTH

    BAD J6 VOTE

ON JAN 6, 2021, Senator Marsha Blackburn voted to certify Joe Biden as POTUS, even though her Constituents asked not to.
She refuses to explain that terrible vote. America suffered through FOUR YEARS of Covid lockdowns, Weaponized LAWFARE, Boys in girls locker rooms & girls sports, porn in elementary schools, parents labeled as domestic terrorists, gender confusion pushed on elementary students, sex change encouraged in schools, normalizing perversions like transgenders, prosecuting parents who objected, sexual mutilation of minors ( aka Vanderbilt University Medical Center). I could go on & on. It’s a horror show.
BTW, Trump has not endorsed her, even though she likes to throw his name around.
The Citizens in America depend on media to get answers from those who want our vote. Thus far, she has not addressed that horrific vote, nor all the good people whose lives were ruined for participating in a legal protest. I wanted to be in DC on J6 to STOP THE STEAL PROTEST. Unfortunately, I was unable to go.
Innocent people had their Civil Rights destroyed due to the DC Prosecutors, FBI, & Judges who incarcerated people for “TRESSPASSING” giving them years in proson, where they were labeled & treated as Domestic Terrorists.
ASK HER TO EXPLAIN WHY SHE WILL NOT ADDRESS THAT HORRIFIC VOTE.
