ICE arrest

The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), a Nashville-based nonprofit that has condemned the recent immigration enforcement operation in the area, was previously asked by federal agencies under the Biden administration to facilitate the release of thousands of illegal immigrants into the Volunteer State.

As news emerged that the joint operation by Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain illegal immigrants living in the Nashville area had resulted in nearly 100 arrests, TIRRC Executive Director Lisa Sherman Luna reportedly accused the state and federal law enforcement agencies of “terrorizing our communities” by “kidnapping our people off the street based on nothing but the color of their skin.”

For the first time ever, the Catholic Church chose an American, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, to lead its more than 1.4 billion followers spread throughout the world. The Holy See was already 1,743 years old when the U.S. established itself as a nation. While this marks a new chapter in the Catholic papacy, and the new pontiff has taken the name Leo XIV, people are asking: Who is he?

Pope Leo was selected to be Bishop of Rome by his fellow Cardinals just one day after the conclave began, reportedly securing enough votes after four ballots. Commentary: America Cannot Have Free Trade Without Fair Trade

Port of Baltimore

Critics of President Trump’s reciprocal trade policy have argued it is either too disruptive or an all-out affront on free trade. The reality is, there is no free trade without fair trade, and there’s no way to reverse thirty years of unfair trade without disruption. Decades of failed trade policy have created an unlevel playing field for American manufacturers and producers – including my farmers and ranchers in West Texas. Worst of all, it has jeopardized our entire country’s economic and national security. Thankfully, we have a President who understands the gravity of this existential threat and is willing to exert the political courage to address it head-on.
