Mayor O’Connell Seems to Suggest He Considers Nashville a Sanctuary City

Freddie O'Connell

In a hurriedly-called press conference on Monday, Mayor Freddie O’Connell – without using the exact phrase – laid out his position that the City of Nashville is essentially a sanctuary city.

Mayor O’Connell said he is “heartbroken” State and Federal law enforcement organizations ran traffic stop operations in Nashville over the weekend that resulted in the arrest of illegal aliens. The mayor condemned the arrests, repeatedly stating Metro Nashville Police Department was “not involved in these actions. Enforcing immigration is a Federal responsibility and MNPD officers are not ICE.”

Tren de Aragua Gang Member, Convicted Sex Predator Among Those Arrested in Nashville over the Weekend, DHS Confirms

arrest

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a scathing response to Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s claim that a law enforcement operation over the weekend, which resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and weapons and arrests of illegal aliens with violent histories, was “not focused” on making Nashville “safer.”

On Sunday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) carried out an operation in Middle Tennessee which included around 150 traffic stops and, as a result, saw the arrests of individuals on outstanding warrants, including people suspected of having gang affiliation, and the seizure of illegal guns and drugs.

State Prosecutors ‘Denounce’ Gov. Bill Lee’s Veto of Probation Bill as Republican Sponsor Plans to Override in 2026

Bill lee

The Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference (TNDAGC) on Tuesday denounced Governor Bill Lee’s decision to use his veto power for the first time to block legislation that would have allowed the Tennessee Board of Parole to deny early release or parole to convicted criminals based on the facts of each individual’s case.

Despite the legislation passing the Tennessee General Assembly with universal support from Republicans, submitted as Senate Bill (SB) 455 by State Senator Paul Rose (R-Tipton County) and House Bill (HB) 527 by State Representative Rick Scarbrough (R-Oak Ridge), Lee reportedly raised concerns that allowing the board to deny parole for those convicted of major crimes would undo Reentry Success Act, a criminal justice reform bill he signed in 2021.

Feds Push to Dismantle Google’s Ad Empire After Landmark Antitrust Ruling

google

The Department of Justice formally asked a federal judge to break up Google’s ad-tech empire Friday after an April court ruling found the company illegally monopolized the digital advertising market.

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema, a Clinton-era appointee, ruled in April that Google had unlawfully tied its ad server, DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP), and ad exchange (AdX), controlling both the buy and sell sides of the digital ad pipeline. Now, the DOJ is seeking a structural remedy — specifically, a forced divestiture of both products — to restore competition.

The 27-page House Intelligence Committee report concludes “the FBI’s bottom line – ‘the FBI does not believe there is a nexus to terrorism’ – was based upon falsehoods, half-truths, and manipulations of the known facts.”

Second Judge Blocks Trump Administration’s Use of Alien Enemies Act to Remove Certain Migrants

CBS News   A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration from deporting noncitizens detained in the Southern District of New York under President Trump’s proclamation invoking the wartime Alien Enemies Act. U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein said in a 22-page decision that the president’s March proclamation ordering the summary removal of Venezuelan migrants exceeded the scope of the Alien Enemies Act, an 1798 law that the Trump administration has relied on to deport noncitizens that his administration claims are part of the gang Tren de Aragua. The Alien Enemies Act gives the president the power to detain and deport migrants when there is a declared war between the U.S. and a foreign nation, or when there is an “invasion” or “predatory inclusion” against the U.S. by a foreign nation or government. Commentary: From One Fake Left-Wing Hysteria to the Next

Donald Trump

The decade-old age of fables like Russian collusion, laptop disinformation, or the pangolin/bat cause of COVID is not over; it is just hitting midstream.

For much of April, amid stock downturns, in the classical paranoid style, we were assured by the Wall Street Journal news reporters and the liberal press that Trump had either a) guaranteed an inevitable recession, b) engineered a losing trade war he likely regretted, c) crashed the stock market, d) lost his once majority favorability ratings, e) mostly had a failed first 100 days, or f) all of the above.

Commentary: It’s Time to Defund My Former Employer Planned Parenthood

For 17 years, I worked at Planned Parenthood and spent my days telling women that the abortion industry cares for them and that abortion is healthcare. I believed Planned Parenthood helped women and women needed abortion to succeed.

I grew up in Mexico City with a passion for helping women. When I came to the U.S., I knew I wanted to be a women’s doctor. When I heard that the local Planned Parenthood, an organization that ‘cared for women,’ was looking to hire someone who spoke Spanish, I thought I had found my dream job.

For some, it’s the only way to stay in business.

Fender and Brad Paisley Release ‘Lost Paisley’ Telecaster

A few years back, I learned that Fender made Telecaster guitars with a paisley design specifically for Brad Paisley. I did not know that Fender had been making Telecaster guitars with a paisley design long before the country superstar was even born. Those with extra cash can purchase one of these vintage 1968 beauties for around $4,000. It was pinkish/red on silver cling foil. Elvis’ guitar player, James Burton, played one.

Fast-forward to 2022, when Alan Cross found an ammo case covered in the same paisley cling foil, except it was bluish-green. He recognized the pattern immediately and purchased the hand-decorated case for $20 from Craigslist.
