ICE Identifies Teen Arrested After High Speed Chase with Nashville Police as Illegal Immigrant from Honduras

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Thursday identified Gelsen Verela Dubon, the 18-year-old who was arrested following a high speed chase with Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), as an illegal immigrant from Honduras.

An ICE spokesman reportedly confirmed Verela Dubon is a Honduran national in a statement to WKRN, and Davidson County Sheriff’s Office records show he is currently being held on a detainer requested by ICE. According to ICE, such detainers are lodged, “against potentially dangerous aliens who have been arrested by another law enforcement agency or are removable from the United States.”

The segment featured an interview of Erez Reuveni, who was fired from the DOJ earlier this year for allegedly failing to appropriately defend the DHS from the lawsuit filed by Abrego Garcia, conducted by “60 Minutes” reporter Scott Pelley.

Judge Blocks Temporary Restraining Order Request over National Guard Deployment in Memphis, Sets November Court Date

A Tennessee court denied a request on Monday to issue a temporary restraining order against the deployment of National Guard troops in Memphis.

“Plaintiffs have not clearly shown by verified complaint or affidavits that immediate and irreparably injury, loss, or damage will result to them before notice can be served on Defendants and a hearing had on Plaintiffs’ motion. Plaintiffs’ attorneys also have not certified efforts to give notice to Defendants or reasons why notice should not be required,” wrote Davidson County Chancellor Patricia Head Moskal.

TBI to Review ‘Incident’ Between Shelby County General Sessions Clerk, Sheriff’s Deputies Following Call for Resignation

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) on Saturday announced that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) will review the actions of its deputies who were confronted by General Sessions Clerk Tami Sawyer after barring an armed individual, later identified by Sawyer as her private security, from entering the county courthouse. 

The decision to refer the incident to TBI was announced in a Saturday press release by SCSO, which stated that while its own investigation showed the deputies, “acted professionally and consistent with their training and SCSO policies,” Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy made the decision to turn over the matter to TBI for additional investigation.
