The evidence obtained by Congress in its quest to unravel the mysteries of Jan. 6 has led the panel leading the investigation to consider that the pipe bombs planted at both the Republican and Democratic National Committees may have been part of an undisclosed training exercise, Chairman Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., told Just the News. 

Additionally, new documents raise questions about how valuable cellular phone location data from the days leading up to Jan. 6 — key data that investigators needed for their work — was purged from an AT&T and government system despite a preservation order from the FBI.

Federal Judge Orders DOJ Response as Abrego Garcia Seeks Gag Order for Kristi Noem, Pam Bondi on Human Smuggling Case

U.S. District Court Judge Waverly Crenshaw, the Obama-appointed judge overseeing the federal human smuggling case against Kilmar Abrego Garcia, last week ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Abrego Garcia’s attorneys to submit updates on their handling of his July order prohibiting counsel from making extrajudicial statements about the defendant without acknowledging that he is innocent until proven guilty.

Those reports must be submitted to the court by Friday, but Crenshaw additionally said the prosecutors must respond to the August request by Abrego Garcia’s attorneys to issue an order prohibiting U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi from making extrajudicial comments about Abrego Garcia by October 10.

Lee Reeves and Gino Bulso Lead TN-7 Field in Fundraising, FEC Filings Show

The latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings show Republicans running in the special primary election for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District are leading the fundraising race, with two candidates—State Reps. Lee Reeves (R-Franklin) and Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood)—each hauling in over half a million dollars.

Reeves tops the list with $569,014.74 raised and $487,486.99 spent, closely trailed by Bulso, who reported $550,005.46 in contributions and $474,449.25 in expenditures.

Three Universities Now Dispute Credentials of Ian Andre Roberts, Illegal Immigrant Superintendent Who Resigned After Arrest

Morgan State University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and George Washington University have now disputed the academic claims made by Ian Andre Roberts, the illegal immigrant from Guyana who was arrested last Friday, and on Tuesday resigned from his position as superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) in Iowa. 

MIT denied awarding Roberts any degree, according to the Des Moines Register, which reported on Wednesday that the MIT Registrar’s Office had no record of Roberts’ enrollment.

Reagan Appointed Judge Rules Trump Admin Deportations over Anti-Israel Protests Are Unconstitutional

A federal judge on Tuesday ruled the Trump administration’s targeting of foreign nationals protesting in the United States for deportation is unconstitutional.

The administration has been working to end the often violent anti-Israel protests that overtook cities and college campuses across the nation for months following Hamas’ deadly Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel. Reagan-appointed Judge William Young argued in his decision that lawfully present noncitizens residing in the U.S. have the same free speech rights as American citizens.

White House to Begin Firing Federal Workers Within a ‘Day or Two’

Federal Judge: Biden ATF Rule on Firearms Sales Cannot Be Used Against NRA Members

Maze “permanently [blocked] federal authorities from enforcing multiple provisions of the ATF’s [‘engaged in the business’ rule],” according to Rocket City Now. Maze’s ruling applies to two plaintiffs — “Don Butler of Talladega and David Glidewell of Ragland” — and to members of the NRA. ATF’s engaged in the business rule became final on April 10, 2024. The rule is designed to expand the occurrences of point-of-sale background checks by counting certain private sales as business sales, thereby requiring the transfer to be handled via a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background check. ICE and Border Patrol Arrest 800 Illegal Immigrants During Chicago Blitz

Washington Examiner   More than 800 illegal immigrants have been rounded up and arrested by federal police from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Border Patrol during a September operation targeting Chicago. The Department of Homeland Security announced on Wednesday afternoon that federal agents and officers deployed to Illinois as part of Operation Midway Blitz since Sept. 8 have arrested more than 800 people illegally living in the United States. “The Trump Administration will not allow violent criminals or repeat offenders to terrorize our neighborhoods or victimize our children and innocent Americans,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “We will not allow sanctuary politicians or violent rioters to stop us from enforcing the law and arresting pedophiles, murderers, gang members, rapists, and domestic abusers from American communities.” READ THE FULL STORY

Trump Administration Freezes $18 Billion in Infrastructure Funding to New York

CBS News   The Trump administration said Wednesday it is freezing roughly $18 billion in federal funding for a pair of New York City infrastructure projects, targeting the home state of both Democratic congressional leaders on the first day of the government shutdown. Russ Vought, head of the White House Office of Management and Budget, announced the freeze in a post on X, saying funding for the Hudson Tunnel Project and Second Avenue Subway would be halted pending a review that will be delayed due to furloughs during the funding lapse. New York is home to both Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and the Department of Transportation linked the leaders to the project freeze in its announcement.
