DOJ Can Charge Judge James Boasberg over Spying Scandal, Say Ex-Trump Admin Official Mike Benz, Federalist Co-Founder Sean Davis

Two prominent conservatives, a former member of the U.S. State Department and the co-founder of The Federalist, have argued that District Court Judge James Boasberg violated federal civil rights laws, as well as a regulation demanding disclosures to the U.S. Senate, when he approved the subpoenas for phone records of nine Republican senators, including Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN). The subpoenas were part of the Biden-era Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into President Donald Trump and his efforts to contest the 2020 election results. 

Sean Davis, the co-founder and CEO of The Federalist, called Boasberg’s order illegal in a Friday post to X made after Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) noted that his phone records were subpoenaed through an order which specifically kept him from being informed for at least one year.

Lee Beaman Credits Kid Rock for Trump Administration Appointment to Tennessee Valley Authority

Businessman Lee Beaman told the Nashville Business Journal last week that musical artist Bob Ritchie, known to fans as Kid Rock, played a role in his June nomination by President Donald Trump to serve on the board of directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).

Beaman, who sold Beaman Automotive in 2020, told the outlet that he was inspired to seek the board seat by his wife, Julie Hannah, who worked on Governor Bill Lee’s gubernatorial campaign and led the Tennessee Department of General Services for much of his administration.

Nigeria said Sunday the country would welcome American intervention against Islamic extremist groups behind the massacre and persecution of Christians in the African nation.

Daniel Bwala, advisor to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, told Reuters Sunday the country would welcome U.S. intervention to combat Islamic terrorists persecuting and massacring Christians within its borders, as long as Nigeria’s sovereignty was respected. President Donald Trump threatened Saturday on Truth Social to deploy U.S. forces in Nigeria if the nation did not do enough to stop Islamic terrorist organizations like Boko Haram.

Trump Admin Will Partially Fund Food Stamps Following Rulings By Obama-Appointed Judges

President Donald Trump’s administration agreed Monday to provide partial payments for a critical food assistance program after two judges ruled on Friday to keep nutrition aid funded.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which costs roughly $9.2 billion to run a month, ran dry on Nov. 1 due to the now-34-day government shutdown — leaving nearly 42 million Americans without the program’s food assistance. The federal judges ruled the program must be funded by a contingency fund containing about $5 billion, according to the Associated Press, but it remains unclear how much money beneficiaries could receive, nor how quickly they would gain access to the smaller amount of benefits.

Disturbing Number of Young People Say Political Violence Is Justified

A growing number of young Americans believe political violence can be justified, Politico reported Monday on its latest survey through Public First.

The poll found that 24% of Americans say there are circumstances in which political violence can be justified, compared to 64% who say it is never acceptable, according to Politico’s report on the survey. Among younger adults, that number rises sharply, with more than one in three under the age of 45 agreeing there are circumstances where political violence is warranted. There was “little partisan divide” on the issue, according to Politico, though neither the precise breakdown on the numbers nor the phrasing of the questions were included in the report.

Analysis: 47 Percent of Immigrant Households with Young Children Get Food Stamps

Breitbart   As the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) run out of funding due to the government shutdown, more data is coming to light about the extent to which immigrants continuously receive such taxpayer-funded benefits. During an interview with Fox News, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins revealed that the agency has uncovered “thousands and thousands” of cases where individuals have defrauded SNAP and WIC programs. The revelation was the result of the Agriculture Department asking states to hand over food stamp data to weed out usage by illegal aliens. Rollins said only 29 states complied with the request. Judge Extends Block on Portland National Guard Deployment Through Friday

Washington Examiner   A federal judge extended an order barring President Donald Trump‘s federalization and deployment of the National Guard to Portland, as she prepares to issue a final ruling later this week. U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut has continuously sided with Oregon officials over the Trump administration about whether the president lawfully ordered the deployment of the National Guard in September, further extending her order blocking the deployment of any troops to Portland through Friday. Immergut held a three-day trial last week featuring testimony related to Trump’s claims that protests over federal immigration operations grew so unruly he needed to call in the National Guard to protect federal assets and officials. The federal judge said that while she is still reviewing the evidence and testimony from the trial, based on her early reading of the evidence, the administration’s claims of violence in the immediate weeks before the deployment were unfounded. Former State Rep. Robin Smith Seeks Presidential Pardon, Citing Cooperation with Prosecutors

According to a statement released last week by her attorneys, former State Representative Robin Smith is seeking a full pardon from President Donald Trump after she was sentenced to eight months in prison for her role in a fraud ring involving mail advertising at the Tennessee General Assembly, suggesting the eight-month sentence does not align with her early cooperation with prosecutors. 

Smith was sentenced on October 24 to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to one county of wire fraud as part of a plea deal that saw her provide information and testimony against former House Speaker Glenn Casada and Cade Cothren for their role the plan to obtain easy work for the Tennessee General Assembly while using a company created by Cothren using a fake identity.

Security Officer for Memphis Shelby County Schools Arrested in FBI Drug Bust of 14 Law Enforcement Officials

Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS) confirmed on Friday that Aashan Roach, who was arrested on Thursday as part of an FBI investigation in Mississippi, worked as a security officer for the school district since 2018, and was placed on administrative leave on Friday.

The case was announced on Thursday by the U.S. Department of Justice, who revealed a total of 20 individuals were arrested as part of an alleged “drug trafficking conspiracy in the Mississippi delta,” including 14 “local law enforcement officials in the Mississippi Delta.”

Federal Judge Moves Vindictive Prosecution Hearing to December After Abrego Garcia Claims DOJ Unprepared

U.S. District Court Judge Waverly Crenshaw on Friday granted the request by defense attorneys representing Kilmar Abrego Garcia to move an upcoming evidentiary hearing, which was originally scheduled for this week, to December 8. 

Crenshaw, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, made the decision following a 33-minute status conference on Friday, ordering a reset for the evidentiary hearing he originally called as part of Abrego Garcia’s bid to prove the case against him is being prosecuted vindictively.

On May 25, 2023, Chief Judge James Boasberg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued a court order to Verizon forbidding the company from informing Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) for one year that he had signed a subpoena requiring them to turn over metadata and toll-record information from the senator’s account with the company to a grand jury convened as part of the Biden administration’s Operation Arctic Frost.
