The Washington Examiner Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) sent a letter to the Justice Department urging it to investigate China’s involvement in the energy and environment sector of the United States. Gooden was joined by nine of his Republican colleagues to express their concern about China’s manipulation of energy and environmental policy through providing financial support to certain nonprofit organizations. The letter, addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi, expresses concerns that foreign governments are helping to fund campaigns that could undermine U.S. energy and infrastructure. China’s “goal of infiltrating U.S. climate narratives has blurred the lines of advocacy and philanthropy by creating indirect financial support routed through third-party groups to mask their origin and avoid public scrutiny,” reads the letter, obtained by the Washington Examiner. “In turn, lobbying efforts are steered to advance Chinese interests, such as promoting policies that increase U.S. dependence on Chinese green technology.” READ THE FULL STORY    

The Hill Democrats accused the Trump administration of again failing to meet its requirement to consult with Congress on plans for refugees as the White House pushes to cut admissions to the lowest level in the program’s history. President Trump in October announced the lowest-ever refugee cap of 7,500 refugees, just a fraction of the 125,000 cap set by former President Biden.   But the White House posted the document publicly a month after it had been signed and without meeting with Congress — a consultation requirement mandated in the establishment of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. City Journal Minnesota is drowning in fraud. Billions in taxpayer dollars have been stolen during the administration of Governor Tim Walz alone. In many cases, the fraud has allegedly been perpetrated by members of Minnesota’s sizeable Somali community. Federal counterterrorism sources confirm that millions of dollars in stolen funds have been sent back to Somalia, where they ultimately landed in the hands of the terror group Al-Shabaab. As one confidential source put it: “The largest funder of Al-Shabaab is the Minnesota taxpayer.” Our investigation shows what happens when a tribal mindset meets a bleeding-heart bureaucracy, when imported clan loyalties collide with a political class too timid to offend, and when accusations of racism are cynically deployed to shield criminal behavior. Politico Former President Barack Obama is embracing his role as mentor-in-chief, huddling with nearly three dozen freshman House Democrats at the Capitol Hill home of Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) at a Wednesday night event hosted by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The event — moderated by Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.) — saw Obama buck up Democrats and offer insights on surviving Republican majorities. “I get feeling discouraged sometimes,” Obama told the room over soda, water, crackers and crudite, according to excerpts provided by his office to POLITICO. “I get feeling worn out, tired, and embattled.
