Consumers who were former patients of HRC Medical Centers, which deceptively advertised hormone therapy treatments, are now able to submit a claim seeking restitution up to $2,250, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti announced.
In 2012, the state sued HRC Medical Centers alleging that the company made “numerous deceptive statements in the advertising of its bioidentical hormone replacement therapy treatments” and secured an $18 million judgment in 2017.
After years of efforts including additional litigation to “maximize collection of the judgment amount,” about $1.5 million has been recovered and will be distributed to impacted consumers, according to Skrmetti’s office.
On Tuesday, Skrmetti announced the official opening of the claims process for former patients of HRC Medical Centers who will receive limited restitution, up to a maximum of $2,250 per person, for the company’s deceptive advertising of hormone therapy treatments.
“For more than a decade, our office has worked hard to protect consumers and secure restitution from HRC Medical Centers for misleading Tennesseans about the safety and efficacy of life-altering treatments,” Skrmetti said in a statement.
“While we are disappointed we could not recover more, we’ve known for a long time that funds would be limited and we fought to obtain every possible dollar for consumers,” Skrmetti added.
Consumers who purchased bioidentical hormone replacement therapy treatments from one of HRC Medical Centers’ three Tennessee locations in Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis are eligible for restitution, Skrmetti’s office adds.
Further, Skrmetti’s office stressed that the restitution payments will not include compensation for any medical injuries consumers may have sustained, as the state’s lawsuit against HRC Medical Centers did not address medical malpractice or negligence claims.
Eligible consumers seeking to file a claim to receive restitution can visit www.HRCRestitutionFund.com or call 1-833-419-4862 for more information.
All valid claims must be submitted by August 30, 2025.
