Congressman Andy Ogles to Hold an Event in Nashville to Rally Support for Immigration Enforcement

Rep. Andy Ogles

Tennessee U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) will hold a press conference on Monday in Nashville to rally support for immigration enforcement efforts in the Volunteer State.

Ogles’ event, titled “Stop the Invasion: Defend Tennessee,” will be held on Monday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. CT at the Tennessee State Capitol to “rally support for federal law enforcement and reaffirm Tennessee’s commitment to protecting its citizens from the rising threats posed by illegal aliens.”

The event will feature officials from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Nashville City Council, the Tennessee General Assembly, and victims of foreign gang violence, according to a press release by Ogles’ office.

Speakers at the event will “discuss the urgent need for local, state, and federal cooperation to deport criminal illegal aliens and reinforce border security efforts throughout Tennessee, and expose the consequences of sanctuary city policies that have no place in Tennessee,” the release from Ogles’ office said.

“Tennesseans deserve to be safe in their homes, in their neighborhoods, and in their schools. That’s why we’re standing with our ICE officers and law enforcement heroes—because no elected official should ever allow our laws to be ignored or our people to be endangered,” Ogles said in a statement.

The event at the Tennessee State Capitol comes weeks after a joint immigration enforcement operation conducted by ICE in conjunction with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) in Nashville resulted in the arrests of 196 criminal illegal aliens.

Despite the operation seeing the removal of aliens with violent criminal histories, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell has maintained that the enforcement operation was “not focused” on making Nashville “safer,” and, in response, launched a “Belonging Fund” to “support immigrants in Nashville during moments of crisis.”

O’Connell also went as far to sign an executive order establishing protocols for various Metro Nashville departments to provide his office with any information deemed “immigration communications” that might reflect forthcoming federal immigration enforcement in the city – essentially creating an early warning system for immigrants to evade federal immigration enforcement.

Ogles, whose district includes parts of Davidson County, has since called on the U.S. House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees to investigate O’Connell and other Nashville city officials for their “repeated obstruction of ICE operations.”

  1. VOTING IS TERM LIMITS

I appreciate your efforts Representative Ogles to bring Nashville Elected Officials into compliance with Immigration Law.
I would like to see our Sheriff Darren Hall present. He has been very silent under the circumstances.
It’s believed there are many illegal criminals sitting in our Metro Jails. He should be notifying ICE, when they are arrested & jailed.
He did so when Obama was President.
But word is now his wife works in the O’Connell Admin, so this could present a Conflict of Interest.
Don’t expect any support from our local media. They are corrupt & compliant with O’CONNELL & his Lame Duck Council.
That’s what happens when you put PHONY TERM LIMITS on the Legislative Branch of government. Until that changes, Nashville will continue to be a sh!t hole city.
