Robby Starbuck Says More Google AI Products Smear Republicans After Access Limited to Gemma Following Letter from Sen. Marsha Blackburn

Conservative filmmaker and pundit Robby Starbuck said on Monday that multiple of the artificial intelligence (AI) products offered by Google had allegedly defamed him, citing his ongoing lawsuit against the technology company, after Google reduced access to one of its AI models that allegedly defamed Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).

The company reduced access to its AI chatbot, Gemma, after Blackburn notified Google CEO Sundar Pichai of her concerns in a letter last Thursday, specifically informing Pichai that his company’s AI products spread “defamatory and patently false material” about Starbuck and others.

Alleged victims included the senator. She wrote that Google’s AI falsely claimed she sexually assaulted a state trooper, who she also compelled to procure prescription drugs, during a political campaign in 1987.

“None of this is true, not even the campaign year which was actually 1998,” wrote Blackburn.

She added that Google’s AI directed Blackburn to news articles, which purportedly contained evidence of its claims, but informed Pichai, “The links lead to error pages and unrelated news articles.”

Blackburn told the executive, “This is not a harmless ‘hallucination.’ It is an act of defamation produced and distributed by a Google-owned AI model.”

After the company pulled one of its products, Starbuck said in a statement posted to X that removing Gemma was an insufficient response. He attached a screen shot that appears to show another Google AI product, Gemini, falsely claiming he assaulted three women and participated in a cryptocurrency scam.

“Here’s Gemini accusing me of raping my wife and a crypto pump/dump scheme. It’s accused me of many other crimes too,” wrote Starbuck. “Gemini accused me consistently of rape, even consistently naming 3 specific women (including my own wife) and a non-existent former nanny. It said this consistently to different people.”

Of the false crypto scam, Starbuck wrote, “To be clear I had zero involvement in this crypto coin and never promoted it in any way. I clearly never raped anyone which is disgusting to have to say. Gemini just made it all up (again).”

Starbuck previously questioned Pichai after a Google press account on X appeared to suggest that the defamatory claims in Starbuck’s lawsuit were only offered by earlier versions of the company’s AI products.

“Journalists have independently reproduced defamatory materials just by asking for my biography. My team has been able to reproduce the materials just by asking for my biography,” he wrote last month. “Does [Pichai] really think this is the right way to handle this?”

His lawsuit against Google comes months after Starbuck announced that he reached a settlement with Meta over a similar legal action, which claimed that AI products created by the parent company of Facebook and Instagram were defaming him.

As part of that settlement, Starbuck said the company agreed to continue working with him, “to find ways to address issues of ideological and political bias and minimize the risk that the model returns hallucinations to user queries.”

No surprise here. One only has to realize those behind the big tech world lean so far left I am surprised that they do not break in two. AI only regurgitates what it is fed.
