Tennessee House Majority Whip Johnny Garrett (R-Goodlettsville), who is running as a Republican to represent Tennessee’s 6th Congressional District, announced his campaign has over $1 million cash on hand entering the first quarter of 2026.

Garrett’s campaign said it raised over $450,000 during the fourth quarter of 2025, adding to the over $725,000 the campaign raised during the third quarter of 2025.

Raising over $1 million “marks a major milestone and show of support” for Garrett’s congressional bid, his campaign said in a Wednesday press release.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the momentum and support we’re seeing across Tennessee’s 6th District,” Garrett said in a statement. “Our campaign is possible because of the generosity and support I’ve received from true freedom fighters across the district.”

Garrett was elected to the Tennessee House in 2018 and has been reelected uncontested by Republicans since then.

He launched his candidacy for the 6th District in July 2025. The district is currently represented by incumbent U.S. Representative John Rose (R-TN-06), who is running in the 2026 Tennessee gubernatorial election.

Pointing to his “conservative record” in the Tennessee General Assembly, Garrett said he “know[s] how to win tough fights” and is ready to “take that experience to Congress to help President Trump pass his America First agenda.”

“From day one, I have met with conservatives across the 6th who want a conservative fighter they can trust – someone who will stand with President Trump and deliver real results for them in Washington,” he added.

Garrett faces six candidates in the August 6 Republican primary for the congressional seat, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.

Among those candidates is the former U.S. congressman Van Hilleary, who boasted a fundraising haul of $607,640.89 in donations through the third quarter of 2025.
