Tennessee U.S. Congressmen Andy Ogles, Scott DesJarlais, Tim Burchett Back Impeachment of District Court Judge James Boasberg

U.S. Representatives Andy Ogles (R-TN-05), Scott DesJarlais (R-TN-04), and Tim Burchett (R-TN-02) will support an effort to impeach District Court Judge James Boasberg, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, who approved the subpoenas requested by former special counsel Jack Smith for phone records of prominent Republicans, the congressmen or their spokesmen told The Tennessee Star on Friday.

The prospect of impeaching Boasberg (pictured above) was first broached earlier this year, after the judge controversially threatened to hold the Trump administration in contempt after issuing a verbal order blocking the government from deporting Tren de Aragua (TdA) terrorists to El Salvador after the planes had already left the United States, which prompted U.S. Representative Brandon Gill (R-TX-26) to file articles of impeachment.

U.S. Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL-19) renewed the call for impeachment during a Thursday interview with Fox Business, when he said the judge should lose his seat after it was revealed that Boasberg approved 197 subpoenas requested by Smith, including those for the records of U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN).

The subpoenas were issued as part of Smith’s investigation into President Donald Trump’s efforts to contest the 2020 election results.

“I think it was Judge Boasberg who signed off on all this stuff,” said Donalds. “He needs to lose his seat as a judge. That needs to go.”

DesJarlais was first to tell The Star that he supports the effort described by Donalds.

“I have let Rep. Donalds know that I support this effort and intend to sign on,” said DesJarlais. “What Judge Boasberg did is unique in that the authorization of federal law enforcement to spy on members of Congress is far beyond playing politics, it is an egregious violation of the Constitution.”

A spokesman for Ogles told The Star, “Andy wants him impeached. He will absolutely sign on to any articles to impeach him.”

Burchett’s spokesman similarly confirmed to The Star that the congressman will support efforts to impeach Boasberg.

The possibility of a new effort by the House to impeach Boasberg arises after Blackburn said she intends to file a lawsuit against Smith and other former officials at the Biden-era U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) over their surveillance, which she called a violation of the First and Fourth Amendments, as well as Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause and the Stored Communications Act.

I do not see John Rose listed as a supporter of impeachment. This should be a no-brainer. This “judge” has no legitimate judgment.

Don’t just talk about it….DO IT!

As usual, there’s “crickets” from my Tennessee Congressman, Fleischmann
